re: Crafting gets a bit clearer

Thanks Gunjnir for getting data out to the guild on the Friday update and the increase information about the crafting system. In short, we now know for a fact that we will only be able to have 5 companions crafting or performing crafting activities. The total number of companions is still not known.
Out of the 5, you can have them working in any distribution across the 3 core crafting skills of gathering, crafting, and adventuring on missions. Again, we know that these will work on a queue system. Thus, you assign task X to companion Y and they will have a duration of time to complete this activity. Some of these activities will require an up front expenditure of money to account for the companions travel, provisions, etc. Once they complete their queued up task they will return with something such as the gathered resource, a crafted item, a resolution to a mission, or light or dark side points as a result of diplomacy. Also, if you need them back prior to the queued task being completed - they will return and you will not lose your up front expenses...just the progress toward the task.
The new crafting skill discussed this week was Armstech, which "shocking" is the crafting of weapons such as blasters:
The crafted items can fall into the following categories, which determine the level of crafting commitment:
The dedicated crafter can achieve the artifact level item, which would be based upon the one on one interaction with rare schematics. Thus, there is a plan to make crafting hands-on to those that desire it. However, this will be a paradigm shift in the way things are done. Thus, I feel they are pushing the genre in a new and potentially innovative manner.
